Visual Lab is a polyhedric laboratory exploring all fields of visual imaginary creation, especially live shows.
Since 1996 Visual Lab has been improving highly its artistic growth, thanks to the collaboration with LINK (Bologna most upfront venue since early 90s); this experience brought Visual Lab to become one of the first Italian entities experimenting dynamic interaction between electronic sounds and images.
Through the years various artists have been involved in the project, expanding Visual Lab’s fields of action.
Beside it, over a decade of research about vjing softwares and tecniques, has brought Visual Lab side by side with some of the greatest names in the international dance music scene (Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Miss Kittin, 2manydjs, Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier).
Work has gone ahead, expanding the experience to video installations, movie productions, training and educational activities, and music tours (Samuele Bersani, Caparezza).
Video projections include art installations (created by Visual Lab), video sets for theatre shows, commercial products launches, projections on public buildings (Rome, Notte Bianca, 2006/2007; Rome, Villa Borghese, 2005).
Visual Lab has been involved in videoclip productions as partner of Emilia Romagna region, making five spots for a social communication campaign (aired on MTV, june 2009).
Currently the crew is working on the production and realization of a documentary on Sahrawi people (Algeria), part of which has already been aired on Sat2000 tv show “1 x 1” during 2009.
Educational activities have been based on experimental method of learning audio video techniques, called Participative Video. There have been various projects involving Visual Lab: Integral Bologna (Bologna, 2007); Vulcano Film Festival (Catania, 2008); Storie Extraordinarie (Bologna, 2008).
Finally, Visual Lab takes care of visual design and consulting for cultural events and trade shows (Future Film Festival; Italia Wave Love Festival; Elettrowave).
